|
| Magiri
Sudan is located about 50 miles north of the Uganda border. The
community of approximately 1000 lepers have had very few
treatments in two decades. The 100 or so people that came sat
under a tree while we handed out some essentials. |
| |

|
| Most of
the individuals that came to the event did not have very advanced
leprosy. Those with the most serious cases couldn't travel and
sent representatives. But many were showing signs with patches
of flaky
skin
and some were
missing
fingers
and
toes. |
| |

|
| This lady
has cracked skin which is an effect of leprosy. |
| |

|
| This man
has lost most of his fingers due to the illness. Leprosy is very
easy to treat, and medicine is free of charge from the World
Health Organization. It is only due to the isolation and the
war that this community is still in danger. |
| |

|
| Surprisingly
there were many young children with signs of the disease. This
girl has patches on her head that have consumed her hair, and
had flies on the wounds. |
| |

|
| This man's
feet have been bandaged. Many walked for many kilometers to come
for the few items we had to hand out. |
